MISSION STATEMENT
Introduction

  • It is our mission to provide quality, professional swimming coaching and Learn to swim instruction to children in the Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club Inc.
  • To instill in the children who attend this swim club, the love of swimming as an activity that they will continue for the rest of their lives.
  • To expose the children at Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club to a variety of strokes, techniques and sporting activities involved with swimming and aiming to develop the whole person both physically, emotionally and mentally.
  • To provide a nurturing, harmonious environment where all staff, parents and swimmers work together as a united team to support, praise and encourage ALL children regardless of whether they are their own children or someone else's, whether they are the fastest, slowest or have a disability.
  • It is only in this safe, nurturing environment where children can be encouraged to take risks and challenge their comfort zone; to grow in their swimming skills and abilities and their feelings of self confidence, self worth and self esteem.
  • We strive to transform children from the timid "I CANT DO THAT" into the confident "I CAN DO IT" I may not come first but I will give it my best shot.

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR and POLICY

  • Children who do learn to swim or Squad training with Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club are expected to always behave in a friendly and supportive manner towards fellow swimmers.
  • Swimmers and parents are expected to treat every-one else in a caring, encouraging and positive manner. Swimmers and parents of swimmers are expected to be nice to each other and give encouragement and support to each others children, and not belittle or make belittling comments about your fellow swimmers. Parents are expected to encourage and cheer all swimmers and never make any unkind comments about other people's children or progress.
  • Please always talk to and treat others in the same manner that you would like them to talk and treat you.

Issue Resolution Do's and Dont's

Should parents/members have any issues or comments, be those positive or negative please adopt the following.

DO

  • Please ring either the President or Vice President of Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club, and tell them about your issue.
  • A time and place will then be arranged with the President or Vice President of Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club will meet with you and any other person involved in the issue, plus a neutral person where the issue can be calmly discussed and hopefully we can resolve the issue.
DON'T
  • Approach coaches on pool deck with your issue; they are there to teach your child/ children to swim.
  • Disrespect or interfere with the coach while he/she is on the on pool deck by raising your voice to them or complaining to them while they are training your child/ children to swim.
  • At Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club we will not tolerate Children or Parents being disrespectful, engaging in whinging, sledging or saying unkind things about others with-in our club. We at Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club reserve the right to ask people to leave the club if they are found engaging in this manner.
Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club Coaches
  • At Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club we endeavour to employ professional, qualified swim coaches who demonstrate a willingness to follow the ethos and methodology expected with-in our club. We expect our coaches to act in a professional manner at all times.
  • Our Coaches are qualified or are under going qualifications to work with children teaching Learn To Swim and Squad swimming classes. They have their working with children card (Blue Card), and are compassionate about working with Toowoomba City Stingers Swim Club to teach your children/child to swim to the best of his/her ability.
Health and Safety
  • Children are expected to wear a sensible swimming costume (no tee shirts and shorts) while doing lessons. Hair is to be tied up or preferably in a bathing cap.
Sickness
  • In all cases of sickness please inform the Secretary or a member of the committee so;
  • We are aware of what illnesses your child has had so we can inform other members if necessary
  • We can record a credit note for the next terms fees or a make-up days if possible (doctors note is required for credit of your lesson or fees, if away more than a week)
  • If your child is unwell (headache sore throat, earache, runny nose, cough, cold or flu etc) please do not bring them to training as they will be unable to swim.
  • If your child is experiencing regular muscle or joint pains during swimming training, we suggest you take your child out of training for a weeks rest and see your GP too see if there is a problem.
  • IF YOU'RE CHILD HAS HAD DIAHORREA, THEY MUST NOT RETURN TO TRAINING FOR TWO WEEK AFTER. (The diahorrea bug takes two week to completely leave your system)
Away from Swimming for other reasons
  • If you are going on Holiday, have a school camp or school exams and will be away for 2 weeks or more, please let us know well in advance, that way we may be able to charge you only for the weeks you attend.
Fees and Payments
  • Our terms run the same as school terms; you will receive your invoice for fees during the first week of the term. A 5% off your invoice will apply to fees paid by the due date. All fees are to be finalised by the 8th week of each term
  • It is important for Squad children to maintain regular training if they are to compete in Swimming Carnivals at Zone level swimming or DDRSA level swimming.
  • Club Nights are run every week on a Wednesday Evening after swimming training in August, September, October, November, January, February, March and April. The second Wednesday of the month in May, June and July. Should there be any changes these will be posted on the notice board.
